Introduction
The 3 June Plan, also known as the Mountbatten Plan, was announced on 3 June 1947 by Louis Mountbatten, the then viceroy of India, after discussion with leading political figures, such as Jinnah and Nehru.
Features
According to the plan, British India was to be partitioned into India and Pakistan
The interim constitution would be the Government of India Act (1935)
The partition was mostly done along the religious lines, either by referendum or division of areas between both countries.

Mountbatten Plan was the last of British solutions to Indian problems and the reason why Pakistan came into being on 14 August 1947.
